General Manager – Home Care Agency

Position Summary
Comfort Keepers of St. Cloud is seeking a dynamic and strategic General Manager to lead our multi-site home care operation. This executive-level role is responsible for overall leadership, operational excellence, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth.
The General Manager serves as the primary leader of the organization — ensuring exceptional client care while driving strong financial performance, disciplined cost management, and long-term profitability. This position partners closely with clinical leadership and ownership to balance quality outcomes with sound business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Organizational Strategy
- Provide strong, visible leadership to office staff and caregivers across all locations
- Foster a culture of accountability, compassion, and performance excellence
- Align operations, staffing, and financial strategy with company growth goals
- Lead management meetings and drive data-informed decision making
Financial Leadership & Business Management
- Own full P&L responsibility across all locations
- Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow planning
- Monitor revenue, payroll and benefits, expenses, and profitability
- Analyze financial reports and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Oversee billing, payroll, authorization management, and cost controls
- Ensure responsible management of employee benefits programs
- Maintain strong working knowledge of accounting systems (including QuickBooks or similar platforms)
- Partner directly with accountants, payroll providers, and financial advisors
- Ensure compliance with tax, insurance, and financial reporting requirements
- Drive operational efficiencies that improve margins without compromising care quality
Operations & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with:
- Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Comprehensive Home Care Licensure
- Minnesota DHS regulations
- OSHA, HIPAA, and employment laws
- Maintain readiness for state surveys, audits, and inspections
- Oversee policies, documentation standards, and client care processes
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure services meet regulatory and quality standards
- Ensure accurate client service agreements and documentation
Insurance, Risk & Benefits Oversight
- Oversee Workers’ Compensation and related claims management
- Manage liability, professional, and business insurance coverage
- Review insurance policies, renewals, and risk exposure with brokers and advisors
- Respond to unemployment claims and hearings in coordination with HR and ownership
- Ensure employee benefits administration is financially sustainable and compliant
Client Experience & Workforce Leadership
- Ensure appropriate caregiver staffing levels to meet client needs
- Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and training of caregivers and office staff
- Promote caregiver engagement, retention, and professional development
- Oversee client intake and service coordination
- Address escalated client or family concerns
- Monitor satisfaction metrics and implement quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- 3–5 years of leadership experience in home care, home health, or healthcare operations
- Demonstrated success managing budgets, financial performance, and operational growth
- Strong understanding of P&L management and cost control
- Experience working with accounting systems (QuickBooks or similar)
- Experience collaborating with accountants, payroll providers, and insurance partners
- Knowledge of Minnesota Comprehensive Home Care Licensure requirements
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or related field
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Minnesota
- Multi-site management experience
- Private pay home care experience
- Experience preparing for MDH surveys
- Business development or healthcare marketing experience
